About Liberation

welcome to a space for us.

in this little corner of the internet:
we believe in women earning a fair day's pay for a hard day's work.
we say 'no' to exploitation in the name of style.
we believe in materials that are authentic. sustainable.
(and colorful too. bright colors make us happy.)
this space reminds us to be kind to ourselves and loving to our world.

welcome to different. welcome to free.

welcome to Liberation Threads.

Liberation Threads was founded in 2016 with a simple mission- to bring choice and freedom to women the world over.  We believe in the beauty and inherent worth of every woman, and we believe in supporting the manufacturers of beautiful clothing that does not exploit our sisters overseas in its production.

In our cozy boutique headquarters in North Carolina, we stock only fair trade or made in USA clothing. We believe that style is essential, and so we are committed to only stock clothing that is guaranteed to make our customers look and feel great. We are excited to be able to deliver our carefully curated collection directly to your doorstep!

In town? Visit us! Our bricks-and-mortar storefront is located at:

405-A E Chapel Hill St ( in the heart of downtown Durham, NC)

about the team:

Rebecca K

Founder

Rebecca is a native of Raleigh, NC, but loves Durham with an embarrassing intensity. She left a full-time job as a hospital-based physician  in 2016 to dive head first into the world of ethical women's fashion. She is beyond thrilled to be living her dream of bringing fashion without guilt to her local community. Whether she is wearing her 'doctor hat' or working in the boutique, Rebecca is wildly passionate about helping women lead more fulfilling and more beautiful lives.

Maegan E

Online Boutique Manager & Communications Director

As a dancer, Maegan grew up surrounded by sequins and tulle.  Her recital costumes were what first allured her into the world of fashion, as she learned that garments had the power to express and embolden her sense of self.  After studying advertising and graphic design at Appalachian State University, she danced for the Carolina Panthers and then became the recreational program director at a dance studio, passing along her love for sequins to future generations.  Whether it is with clothes or with images, the opportunity to create a unique and eye-catching first impression is what excites Maegan.

Meaghan M

General Manager & Visual Merchandising Lead

Meaghan is a Durham native and describes herself as a creative. She has a Bachelor's degree in Textiles and Apparel and a Master's in Luxury and Fashion Management--but her creative talents are not limited to just fashion. Meaghan is also a social media influencer, blogger, Youtuber, and hosts her own podcast show, M CODE, on SoundCloud. She loves fashion and social media and wants to share how the two worlds intertwine.
